The Prime Minister said that when the country did not become independent, this house was known as the Imperial Legislative Council, but when the country became independent, it came to be known as the Parliament House. The PM said that it is true that the decision to construct this building was of foreign rulers, but we can proudly say that the sweat and hard work of my countrymen were invested in the construction of this building and the money was also mine. Belonged to the people of the country.

75 years journey in old parliament

PM Modi said that our journey of 75 years has created the best of many democratic traditions and processes. Every person present in this House has contributed actively and has also witnessed it as a witness. The PM further said that we may move to a new building, but the old building i.e. this building will also always inspire the coming generations. It is a very emotional moment to bid farewell to this House. Even when a family leaves their old house and goes to a new one, many memories shake it for a few moments and when we are leaving this house, our mind and brain are also filled with those emotions and filled with many memories. Referring to the Constituent Assembly, PM Modi said that the meetings of the Constituent Assembly were held in this Parliament House for two years and 11 months and he gave the Constitution to the country, a guide which still runs us. Ever since our Constitution came into force in the country, the biggest achievement in these 75 years has been the increasing confidence of the common man of the country in this Parliament.

PM speaks on terrorist attack on Parliament

Referring to the terrorist attack on the Parliament House, the Prime Minister said that when there was a terrorist attack on the Parliament House. Then this terrorist attack was not on any building, but in a way, it was an attack on the mother of democracy, our living soul. The country can never forget that incident. Remembered the historic decisions taken in the old Parliament
