A surprising incident has come to the fore from Maya Nagri Mumbai. The body parts of a 53-year-old woman were found in a plastic bag in an apartment in Lalbagh area here. In this case, the police have arrested the 23-year-old daughter of the deceased woman.
According to the information received from the police, the dismembered body of a 53-year-old woman, cut into several parts, was found in a plastic bag in a cupboard of a house in Lalbagh area of Dadar, Mumbai on Tuesday night. Police suspect that the woman’s 23-year-old daughter stayed with the body for over two months, police have detained her for questioning. A police officer of the local Kalachowki police station has identified the deceased woman as Veena Prakash Jain. Police said she used to live in Virar, but after her husband’s demise around 16 years ago, she moved to Peru Compound in Lalbagh to be closer to her brother.
An official said that whenever Veena’s brother came to meet her sister in the last two months, the daughter would say that she was sleeping or had gone out. When this continued for some time, the brother got suspicious. Police said the brother sent his son to meet Veena on Tuesday, but the daughter did not allow him to meet her. After this Veena’s nephew went to the local Kalachowki police station, after which the police team reached home. On searching the house, they found Veena’s body parts in a cupboard. When he asked his daughter, she said that she did not know about it. Veena’s brother has registered a murder case at Kalachowki police station. The body has been sent for postmortem to KEM Hospital. An official said that the daughter has been detained for questioning.
