Mohammad Siraj has secured the first position in the latest ODI bowling rankings released by the ICC with 729 points. Australia’s fast bowler Josh Hazlewood (727 points) is in second place and New Zealand’s Trent Boult (708 points) is in third place in the list. Siraj is the first Indian bowler after fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah to top the ICC bowlers’ rankings in ODIs. Bumrah reached the number one spot in July last year after an impressive performance against England.
The year 2022 was great for Siraj
Mohammad Siraj returned to the ODI team after three years in February 2023, since then has taken 37 wickets in 21 matches. Also, Siraj has taken one or more wickets in his last 10 ODIs. Siraj was also named in the ICC Men’s ODI Team of the Year earlier this week. In the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka, the right-arm pacer took nine wickets at an impressive average of 10.22. Siraj picked up five wickets in the ODI series against New Zealand after being rested for the final match. India whitewashed the series 3-0 against the Kiwis.
