The CBI on Tuesday raided nine places in Bihar’s Patna and Arrah linked to Rashtriya Janata Dal leaders Kiran Devi and Arun Yadav in connection with the ‘Land For Job Scam’ probe. I have raided. According to media reports, all the flats in Rabri Devi’s apartment were bought by Arun Yadav. Arun Yadav was accused of rape, after which he could not even contest the election. In view of the raid by the CBI team, a huge crowd of her supporters has gathered outside Kiran Devi’s residence and the atmosphere there is quite tense.

In May last year, the CBI had registered a case against former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad and his family members in a ‘Land For Job Scam’ corruption case. In this case, 16 people including Lalu, his wife Rabri Devi and daughters Misa Bharti and Hema Yadav were made accused. According to media reports, at least eight people were given railway jobs in exchange of land when Lalu was the railway minister during the UPA-1 government at the Centre. The CBI has already interrogated Lalu Prasad, Rabri Devi and his son and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav. Some new evidence has come to the fore during the investigation. On the basis of these, CBI teams are conducting raids.

Increase in the action of CBI and ED

According to media reports, in about 9 years after 2014, there has been a four-fold increase in the action taken by the National Investigation Agency. During this, about 121 leaders came under investigation, out of which about 115 belong to opposition parties. The National Investigation Agency raided the residences of prominent leaders of opposition political parties in West Bengal, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh. Also interrogated and sent many to jail.
