A day after the victory of the Congress in the Karnataka Assembly Elections, the politics has heated up due to the factionalism in the Congress over the post of Chief Minister (CM). On last Sunday, there was intense discussion on the name of the Chief Minister throughout the day. The names of former CM Siddaramaiah and Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar are at the top in the race to become the next CM of the state. The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) on Sunday passed a one-line resolution and it said that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge will choose the next leader of the legislature party in Karnataka.

This decision in CLP meeting

Congress in-charge of Karnataka and general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala said that the resolution appointing the AICC president as the CM was moved by Siddaramaiah and supported by all the newly-elected MLAs of the party. Along with this, he also said that after this the process of taking opinion of different MLAs will also be started. The party has also proposed a common term for both of them. Mallikarjun Kharge had appointed former Maharashtra chief minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, general secretary Jitendra Singh and former general secretary Deepak Babaria as observers for the CLP leader’s election. So that, talking to all the MLAs, the name of the CM can be discussed.
