Ishan Kishan vs BCCI : Ishan Kishan was not selected in the Indian team for the 3rd T20 series against Afghanistan. In their place, Jitesh Sharma and Sanju Samson became part of the team as wicketkeepers. Why didn’t Ishaan get a chance? Many reasons are emerging regarding this.
Citing mental fatigue, Ishaan had asked for a break from BCCI before the Test series against South Africa. After this he returned home. But, during the break he was seen partying in Dubai. Apart from this, this wicketkeeper batsman had also participated in a TV programme. According to media reports, BCCI is unhappy with Ishaan’s attitude and that is why his name was not considered for the Afghanistan series.
There were also reports that despite keeping Ishan Kishan in the squad continuously, he is not getting a chance to play, due to which he is probably upset. There were also talks in the team management and leadership that Ishaan was not able to take being kept out of the playing-11 properly. Meanwhile, there were reports of him partying in Dubai during the break, which further increased his troubles.
Ishaan was angry at not getting a chance
According to the report of Indian Express, Ishan Kishan was angry that he was not getting a place in the playing-11. He did not want to play 5 T20 series against Australia after the ODI World Cup. He had asked for a break from BCCI. But, BCCI did not give leave to Ishaan. However, he was rested for the last two matches of the series. But, he was with the team only.
After this, Ishaan wanted complete rest from the white ball series on South Africa tour. But, he wanted to play the Test series. But, once again his application was rejected by BCCI.
Ishaan had asked for a break even after the World Cup
Since then, the tussle between BCCI and Ishaan had increased further. The wicketkeeper batsman again asked BCCI for a break before the start of the Test series and this time BCCI decided to rest Ishan and he was released from the Test squad.
Ishaan was partying in Dubai during his break
A source close to Ishaan told The Indian Express, he had told the team management that he was feeling mentally tired as he was constantly traveling with the team and now wanted to spend some time with the family. But, after this he went to Dubai and was seen partying there.
A source close to Ishaan said that once you are given a break, then what does it matter where he is spending his time? He wanted to stay away from cricket because he was constantly traveling with the team. He was not getting a chance to play. This was affecting his mental health. He had gone to Dubai to attend his brother’s birthday.
Despite being fit, Ishaan did not get a chance
It is learned that Kishan has made himself available for the T20 series against Afghanistan. But despite opening batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad being unavailable for selection, he was dropped. Despite performing well in the limited opportunities he has got with the national team, Kishan has lost his place in all formats.
At present it is not clear whether his name will be considered for the Test against England or not. However, Rahul has performed well as a wicketkeeper in South Africa. But, in home conditions, an expert wicketkeeper will definitely be needed against the spin trio of Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel. In such a situation, it has to be seen what effect this ongoing tussle between BCCI and Ishaan has on his career.
