Mumbai Indians reached 16 points by winning their last league match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Along with winning this match, Mumbai also had to pray for the defeat of Royal Challengers Bangalore, playing their last league match, to reach the playoffs. Mumbai Indians qualified for the playoffs as soon as RCB lost against Gujarat Titans.
