IND vs ENG Test: Injured or dropped? After all, why are things being raised about Shreyas Iyer? Will the card be cut from the remaining test?

New Delhi. The selection committee headed by Ajit Agarkar is likely to announce the Indian team for the remaining three Tests against England on Friday and it is understood that questions are being raised about him because of his poor form and not fitness. Shreyas has played innings of 27, 29, 35 and 13 runs so far in this Test series against England and he has not been able to score big in Test cricket for a long time.

A BCCI official told CricketNext, "Injury problems? What are we discussing? Didn’t you see how he ran out Ben Stokes in the Vizag Test? The fact that runs are not coming from his bat is the biggest concern for the Indian team management at this time. He faced more than 50 balls in three of his four innings and the matter of concern is that he could not play big innings."

Iyer did not score a half-century in the last 13 innings
Iyer has not crossed the 50-run mark in his last 13 innings and his performance in the two recent Test matches against South Africa was also disappointing. He is struggling with form and it seems that he may hardly get a place in the Indian team for the next three Tests.

Team selection getting delayed due to Jadeja-Rahul
Actually, due to the fitness report of Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul, the selection of Team India has been delayed. Both these players could not play the second Test due to injury and the Indian team management wanted to wait till the last minute to get clearance from the medical team for their two star players and this has become the reason for the delay.

BCCI official said, "We are waiting for the approval and update from the BCCI medical team on Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul and that is why the selectors got delayed in announcing the team. We are talking about two big players, so it is important to have a clear picture of those two players before selecting the team for the series."

According to media reports, the Indian team will reach Rajkot by 12th February and will start practice from the next day i.e. 13th February.
