New Delhi. Shubman Gill is getting a real ‘test’ in test cricket. He started his career as an opener. But, Gill is now playing at number three. But, ever since he started playing at number three, runs have not been coming from his bat. Even in the first innings of the Hyderabad Test against England, Gill missed a big innings after a decent start. He got caught out after playing the wrong shot. Meanwhile, former England captain Kevin Pietersen has said a big thing about Gill. He has advised Rahul Dravid to talk to Gill and explain to the batsman the same thing which he had told him years ago.
Kevin Pietersen said on Geo Cinema during the lunch break on the second day of the Hyderabad Test, "If there is anyone in the dressing room who has changed my fate, it is Rahul Dravid. I don’t know whether Rahul will watch this broadcast or not. But, I would tell him to go and talk to Gill the same way he had talked to me earlier. Ask him to hit a shot on the off side. Get practice in choosing better length and rotating the strike. Practice such things, which can make Gill a better player."
Dravid should talk to Gill: Pietersen
Peterson further said, "Gill is a quality player. I am not disappointed with the way he has been out. I am disappointed that he has not yet developed the ability to rotate the strike. But, he is still young. Give them that ability and that structure. If he starts rotating the strike and learns this from Dravid and Rahul takes him under his wing, then the whole world will be his."
Shubman Gill has scored a total of 2 centuries in Test cricket so far. Out of these, he has scored only 1 century at home.
