IND vs ENG, 1st Test: England’s baseball got blown out in Hyderabad Test, limited to 246 in the first innings, Jadeja-Ashwin’s ‘hat-trick’

New Delhi. Before the start of the 5 Test series against India, England had played a lot of mind games regarding baseball. But, it fizzled out on the very first day of the first Test which started in Hyderabad from Thursday. The entire England team could play only 64.3 overs and was all out for 246 runs. Captain Ben Stokes definitely batted in baseball style from one end. But, he did not get anyoneโ€™s support from the other end. Stokes played an inning of 70 runs in 88 balls. He was the last batsman out for England. He was clean bowled by Jasprit Bumrah.

R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja took the most wickets for India. Both of them took 3-3 wickets while Jasprit Bumrah and Akshar Patel got 2-2 wickets. In this match, England won the toss and chose to bat first. Ben Duckett and Jack Crowley started the innings in โ€˜baseballโ€™ style. Englandโ€™s opening pair had added 55 runs in just 11.5 overs. On this score, Duckett (35) was given out LBW by Ashwin.

Root-Bairstow had added 61 runs
Within five runs, England also lost the wickets of Ollie Pope and Crawley. After this, Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root added 61 runs for the fourth wicket and brought Englandโ€™s innings back on track to some extent. However, at the score of 121 runs, Bairstow (37) was clean bowled by Axar Patel with a brilliant ball. After this Root was also out.

Jadeja-Ashwin took three wickets each
Ben Fox, Rehan Ahmed and Tom Hartley were also out in quick succession. But, Captain Stokes held one end and batted brilliantly. He completed his fifty runs by hitting a six off Jadeja. For this Stokes took 69 balls. When Englandโ€™s score was 246 runs, Bumrah bowled Stokes.
