Saumya Pandey broke Bishnoi’s record
Soumya Panda has broken the record of leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi. Bishnoi took a total of 17 wickets in 6 matches in the Under-19 World Cup played in South Africa in 2019-20. Then Bangladesh won the title by defeating India.

Took most wickets for India in the World Cup
Soumya is the second highest wicket taker in the Under-19 World Cup 2024. South African pacer Kwena Mafaka is in the first place. He took a total of 21 wickets in 6 matches at an average of 9.71. Mafaka had achieved the feat of taking 5 wickets in a match a total of three times in the entire tournament. South Africa had to face defeat from India in the semi-finals. In that match, Mafaka had taken 3 wickets for 32 runs.

Soumya comes from Rewa in Madhya Pradesh and considers Ravindra Jadeja as his idol. The family wanted him to become a doctor. But, Soumya was so passionate about cricket that later even the family bowed to his insistence and today he is playing the World Cup for India.
