New Delhi. The first match played between India and Afghanistan in Mohali was won by the host team by 6 wickets. Apart from the game, in this match, players of both the teams were seen troubled by cold. The temperature dropped to 7 degrees during the match. This caused a lot of trouble to the bowlers and fielders. How cold it was can be gauged from the fact that at the end of the match the entire stadium was surrounded by a blanket of fog.
Team India bowled first in the match and Axar Patel was the most successful bowler for India. He took 2 wickets for 23 runs. However, he faced a lot of difficulty in bowling due to cold during the match. For this reason, he talked to the umpire and asked if he could wear a glove on his non-bowling hand.
On this the umpire refused to accept his request citing the rules of cricket. He laughingly told that I had asked the umpire whether I could bowl wearing a glove on one hand. But, he refused.
Bowling became difficult due to cold: Akshar
Despite bowling well, Akshar admitted that the cold weather had made the conditions difficult for him. They said, "I wasn’t feeling the ball. It was very cold. We knew it would be cold here. But I was only thinking about my bowling and how to put pressure on the opposition batsmen. There was also a lot of dew. Still I tried to focus on bowling.
