ICC Player Of The Month award: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday announced the Player of the Month Award for the month of January. Young West Indies player Shamar Joseph has won the title of the first month of the year. He captured the title by defeating England batsman Ollie Pope and Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood. Recently, Shamar came into limelight with his brilliant performance in the Gabba Test against Australia. After this he was signed by IPL franchise Lucknow Super Giants.

Was selected Player of Series
Joseph made his Test debut against Australia last month. In his first Test played in Adelaide, this 24 year old player took 5 wickets in the very first innings. He did not get any success in the second innings. After this, Joseph was made a hero overnight in the second test played at Gabba. He had achieved only 1 success in the first innings, but in the second innings he had 7 wickets for 68 runs in 11.5 overs. West Indies won this test by 8 runs. Shamar Joseph was adjudged Player of the Match and Player of the Series for his excellent bowling.
LSG joined for Rs 3 crore
After this performance of Joseph, Lucknow Super Giants signed him for Rs 3 crore. He joined the franchise as a replacement for fast bowler Mark Wood. Before coming to cricket, Joseph worked as a security guard in a small town in Guyana, but he was interested in cricket and kept practicing continuously. Talking about Joseph’s performance in domestic cricket, he has taken 34 wickets in 14 innings of 7 first-class matches. Apart from this, he has 2 wickets in his name in 2 List A matches.
