The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal has upheld a CCI order in a case related to abuse of its dominant position in Android. Explain that in this case, CCI had imposed a fine of Rs 1,337.76 crore on Google. The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal today gave 30 days time to pay the fine and implement the order.

Now Google has also got a setback from NCLAT. The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal, while upholding the CCI order, ordered Google to pay a fine of Rs 1,337 crore within 30 days.

The Android operating system is Google’s mobile operating system and Google’s apps are pre-installed in it. Whenever a company wants to provide Android based software in its devices, it has to sign a mobile application distribution agreement with Google. Under the agreement, all Android devices must have Google’s pre-installed apps and they cannot be uninstalled. There is an allegation on Google that the company is affecting the competition of the market.
