He said he raised various issues including respect for human rights, role of civil society and free press during his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the G-20 summit in Delhi.

Joe Biden raised these issues with PM Modi

The US President said that as I always do, I raised with PM Modi the importance of respecting human rights, the important role of civil society and a free press, and building a strong and prosperous country. Joe Biden said he had substantial discussions with PM Modi on ways to strengthen the India-US partnership and thanked him for his leadership and hosting the G-20 summit in Delhi.

Biden, who arrived in Delhi on his first visit to India as US President, held extensive talks with PM Modi. They also discussed India’s purchase of 31 drones and moving forward in joint development of jet engines.

Congress said attack

After the comments of US President Joe Biden, Congress has attacked PM Modi. Party leader Jairam Ramesh wrote on Twitter that neither will I hold a press conference nor will I allow it, it had no effect. He said that Joe Biden is saying the same things in Vietnam which he had said to PM Modi in India. Earlier, Jairam Ramesh had alleged that after the bilateral meeting in Delhi, Biden’s team was not allowed to talk to the media and answer questions about his meeting with PM Modi.
