India vs Wales: India beat Wales 4-2 in the Hockey World Cup. India had put pressure on the Wales team by taking the lead in the first half of the match itself. Shamsher Singh scored the first goal for the team from India. Shamsher Singh scored this goal in the 21st minute of the match. Had India scored one more goal, it would have overtaken England to reach the first position. India could not directly reach the quarter finals. India will play a crossover match against New Zealand on August 22 to make it to the last-8.

Akashdeep Singh scored both the field goals in the 32nd and 45th minutes. After this, in the fourth quarter of the match, captain Harmanpreet Kaur scored on a penalty corner. At the same time, this is Harmanpreet’s first goal in this World Cup. Player of the match Akashdeep Singh was selected in this match.
