Chandrayaan-3 started its work.
Chandrayaan 3 Research: Chandrayaan-3 has made a soft landing on the Moon’s South Pole on 23 August. The lander of Chandrayaan-3 carried six instruments with it. Out of these ILSA, RAMBHA and ChaSTE have started functioning from today. ISRO itself has informed about this. Isko told that all the activities of the lander are normal and on schedule. Let us explain what work Insa, Rambha and ChaSTE will do.
ISRO will use the lander to enhance understanding of the lunar soil and take pictures of the blue planet from lunar orbit. It will study the Moon’s atmosphere. Along with this, surface excavation will be done to understand the mineral composition. Rover Pragyan will study the seismic activity on the Moon, during which the lander Vikram will take pictures of Pragyan. Along with this, it will try to melt ‘regolith’, a piece of the lunar surface, to study the gas emitted using laser beams.
Will Rambha work?
Rambha (Radio Anatomy of Moon Bound Hypersensitive Ionosphere and Atmosphere) carried with the Chandrayaan-3 lander will measure the plasma density near the lunar surface and its change over time.
Regarding this, the chief of ISRO had said that there is no atmosphere on the moon, but this is not completely true. He further explained that gases emanate from the moon. They get ionized and remain very close to the surface. Along with this, it keeps on changing during day and night. With the help of Rambha it will also help to find out.
what will ilsa do
ISRO Chief S Somnath told that ILSA i.e. Instrument for Lunar Seismic Activity will measure seismicity around the landing site on the moon and study the structure of the moon’s crust and cover. He said we would drop a device and measure its vibrations. What you call ‘moonquake’ means lunar earthquake behavior or internal processes.
