Chandrababu Naidu Arrest:Party workers are protesting in the state after the arrest of former CM Chandrababu Naidu in a case related to alleged corruption in Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation. Meanwhile, the party has called for Andhra Pradesh bandh on Monday i.e. today in protest against the arrest of TDP Chief. Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena Party or JSP has extended its support to the state bandh call. On Sunday, Chandrababu Naidu was sent to judicial custody for 14 days.
TDP calls for bandh
According to media reports, TDP AP President K Atchannaidu has requested the party cadre, people and civil society to participate in the movement and make it successful. He also said the bandh call was in protest against the ‘illegal’ arrest of Chandrababu Naidu, brutal attacks on TDP workers and the vendetta politics of Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy. At the same time, a TDP leader said that September 10 is a black day for democracy. The government has put a leader working for the public in jail as per its politics. Earlier, TDP supporters broke down after the arrest of their leader and sat on a hunger strike in Visakhapatnam.
Chandrababu Naidu taken to Rajahmundry Central Jail
Chandrababu Naidu has been taken to Rajahmundry Central Jail after being sent to judicial custody for 14 days. Heavy police security has been deployed in the jail ahead of the remand of the former Chief Minister. Andhra Pradesh CID chief N Sanjay on Saturday said he was arrested in a fraud case related to misappropriation of funds from the Skill Development Corporation, which had caused a loss of Rs 300 crore to the state government. The CID reported that the investigation had revealed serious irregularities, such as, before any expenditure by the private entities, the then state government provided an advance amount of Rs 371 crore, representing a full 10 per cent of the government’s budget.
