BCCI, Nepal team: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which has been helping the Afghanistan cricket team for almost a decade, has now decided to help the Nepal cricket team. In such a situation, the board is ready to provide infrastructure and exposure related assistance to the talented players of Nepal. If all goes well, there is a strong possibility that Nepal’s senior team may train in Delhi and play some practice matches before leaving for the United States to play the T20 World Cup in June.

Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) President Chatur Bahadur met BCCI Secretary Jay Shah in Delhi on Friday, requesting him to help provide quality playing time and access to infrastructure to his country’s budding cricketers. All these things are not easily available in the Himalayan nation. A CAN source told PTI, ‘Chatur Bahadur had recently met BCCI secretary Jay Shah during the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting. During this time Shah had invited him to come to New Delhi for discussions. Bahadur and Shah met and the BCCI secretary has asked them to prepare a draft. This draft aims to include things on how BCCI can help CAN.

Nepal team wants training camp
The Nepal cricket team needs a training camp before the T20 World Cup, which may not be possible due to bad weather in Kathmandu. CAN officials want a camp in Delhi-NCR during April-May. According to CAN sources, "We have Kathmandu-Delhi direct flight which makes it cost effective. We know the IPL will be going on and we won’t have access to Ferozshah Kotla, but there are a lot of good grounds in and around Delhi where the team can train." 

Nepali players want to come to NCA for rehab
Apart from this, in case of injury, he wants to go to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for rehab against Nepal. Also, CAN wants match exposure for the cricketers of Under-19 and Nepal A team. A source said, "The chances of getting quality game time in Nepal are not very good and CAN would make a request that our U-19 and A teams get the opportunity to play practice games against the U-19 and senior state teams from time to time, this will help the players Will get a lot of help."
