Worrying: This serious disease is increasing among people who have recovered from Kovid 19, youth are also coming in the grip

Gurugram. There is an increase in cases of Avascular Necrosis in people who have recovered from Covid 19. Data on patients from Artemis Hospital in Gurugram shows that most patients who have recovered from Covid have an increased incidence of severe hip pain and physical disability due to AVMs. A 20 per cent increase in AVN cases has been reported in the hospital. At the same time, the need for surgery has also increased by about 20 percent. Dr. Ramkinkar Jha, Chief and Unit Head Orthopaedics, Artemis Hospital, Gurugram said that there has been an increase in cases of avascular necrosis of the femoral head (hip) in the last two years. The reason for this is the use of steroids in the treatment of cavid.

One of the main reasons for the rise in cases of avascular necrosis of the femoral head. The overuse/improper use of steroids is likely the biggest cause. An increase in the cases of AVN is also visible in the youth. More youth are suffering from it today than ever before. Apart from the youth, a large number of the male population, and people suffering from diabetes and other respiratory diseases are particularly affected by this disease. There have also been cases of patients complaining of unexplained pain around the hip joint in rural and remote areas. After examining whom he was found to be suffering from this disease.

Dr. Jha pointed out that during the COVID-19 pandemic, the use of steroids to reduce the severity of the infection increased manifold, as it was one of the ways to save the lives of infected patients. However, its overuse has led to an increase in cases of severe hip pain and physical disability in patients who have recovered from COVID.
