Russia Ukraine War: Russia has launched a major attack in Kherson, Ukraine. Russian attacks on Ukraine’s southern Kherson areas have killed 21 people and injured dozens. Local media, Kyiv Post, reported that Russia had killed at least 21 people and injured 48 in the deadly attacks. Authorities also announced on Wednesday that a curfew would be in place in Kherson from Friday to Monday.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the deadly attacks targeted a railway station, a crossing, homes, hardware stores, grocery supermarkets, gas stations and other civilians. So far 21 people have been killed and 48 are injured, Zelensky said in a telegram. He posted pictures of dead bodies and injured people on the floor of a vegetable stall in a supermarket, with debris all around.
Meanwhile, two loud explosions were heard in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. The military administration of the city of Kiev said that the air defense is working. An air raid warning has been issued for Kiev, Chernihiv, Sumy, Poltava, Kirovohrad, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhya regions and Kiev city.
The head of Kherson’s local military administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, said that during these 58 hours it is forbidden to roam the streets of the city. Entry and exit to the city will also remain closed. People can go for a walk around their homes or go to the shops, but they are required to carry an identity card with them. Kherson was captured by Russian troops in the early days of the assault last year and the city remains under Russian occupation until November 2022.
