Imran Khan Arrested: Protests have intensified in Pakistan over the news of the arrest of former Prime Minister and Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan. He was arrested by Pakistan Anti Corruption Agency from Islamabad High Court. Here he had come to attend the hearing of the Al-Qadir Trust case. PTI supporters are protesting in several cities of Pakistan after Imran Khan’s arrest. Supporters stormed the Pakistan Army Headquarters and the residence of the Corps Commander.

According to the latest update, the High Court has justified the arrest of Irrfan Khan. The Islamabad High Court on Tuesday night ruled to uphold the arrest of Imran Khan. PTI will approach the Supreme Court to challenge the court’s decision. PTI Vice President Fawad Chaudhary has termed Imran Khan’s arrest as illegal. Explain that Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court Ameer Farooq criticized the arrest in the court premises, but later the court termed it as legal. Now PTI will go to the Supreme Court today against the arrest of Imran Khan.

Uproar across Pakistan over Imran Khan’s arrest

Protests broke out across Pakistan after former Prime Minister Imran Khan was detained. Supporters of PTI party have created ruckus in many cities including Islamabad, Lahore, Rawalpindi. Imran Khan supporters stormed the Pakistan Army headquarters in Rawalpindi and the corps commanders’ residence in Lahore. Fire has been set at various places. In view of the situation of violence, Section 144 has been imposed in the whole of Pakistan. Amnesty International has urged the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority to restore internet services in the country and allow citizens to access social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. Schools in the country have also been closed. So far 6 people have died in vandalism and arson by Imran’s supporters.

America and Britain’s reaction to the situation in Pakistan

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said, “We just want to make sure that whatever is happening in Pakistan is in accordance with the rule of law, the constitution.” Britain’s Foreign Secretary James Cleverley said, “We want to see a peaceful democracy in that country. We want to see the rule of law upheld.”
