Global Biofuel Alliance Launch: A round of meetings is going on under the G-20 Summit in the national capital Delhi. The first session of G-20 was started under the chairmanship of PM Narendra Modi. At the same time, PM Modi launched the Global Biofuel Alliance in the G20 Summit. Regarding this, PM Modi said that he called upon the countries of the world to join the new alliance to take ethanol blending in petrol to 20 percent globally.
These countries became part of the alliance
The objective of the Global Biofuel Alliance is to promote alternative and clean fuels in the world. Apart from India, America and Brazil are founding members of this alliance. After the launch of the Global Biofuel Alliance, a total of 11 countries like Argentina and Italy have joined it.
What is Biofuel?
Biofuel means fuel made from plants, grains, algae, husk and food waste. It is extracted from many types of myomas. This biofuel contains low amount of carbon. If its use increases, the world’s dependence on petrol and diesel will reduce and will also help in reducing environmental pollution.
What will be the benefit of alliance?
Addressing the first session of the G20 summit, PM Modi said that all countries need to work together in the matter of fuel blending. PM Modi has also given a proposal regarding this. The PM said that initiative should be taken to mix up to 20 percent ethanol in petrol at the global level.
