Unacademy Layoffs: The layoff season doesn’t seem to be ending at Unacademy, India’s popular ed-tech platform. The company has announced that it is cutting its workforce by 12 percent, resulting in 380 employees being asked to leave. Let us tell you that Unacademy fired 10 percent of its workforce in November. Around 350 employees were affected by the layoffs in November. Earlier, 150 employees of Unacademy were also asked to leave the company.
According to Moneycontrol, Unacademy CEO Gaurav Munjal informed the employees about the layoffs via email. We have taken every step in the right direction to make our core business profitable, yet it is not enough,” Gaurav Munjal, co-founder of Unacademy, said in a note. We have to go further. Today’s reality as compared to two years back where we have seen phenomenal growth due to the acceleration of online learning.
Gaurav Munjal further wrote, The global economy is facing a recession, there is a shortage of funds and it is important to run a profitable business. We have to adapt to these changes. We have to build and operate well, so that we can really create value for our users and shareholders. We will reduce the size of our team by 12 percent to ensure that we can meet the goals we face in the current realities.
