Officials of the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) said that vehicular toll on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, which is the country’s first access-controlled road, will go up by 18 per cent from April 1.

A senior MSRDC official said that although the toll increases by six per cent annually, it is applied cumulatively after every three years at 18 per cent, as stipulated in a government notification dated 9 August 2004 Was. Giving information, the official said that the new toll would be Rs 320 instead of the existing Rs 270 for four-wheelers like cars and jeeps and Rs 495 instead of the existing Rs 420 for vehicles like mini buses and tempos. The toll for two-axle trucks will increase to Rs 685 from the existing Rs 585. For buses it will increase from Rs 797 to Rs 940.

In addition, three-axle trucks will have to pay Rs 1630 instead of Rs 1380 and multi-axle trucks and machinery-vehicles Rs 2165 instead of the existing Rs 1835. Officials also pointed out that the toll would remain the same till 2030, as there would be no revision after three years in 2026. Explain that in the year 2022, about 95 km long, six-lane Mumbai-Pune Expressway was fully operational. Toll on the expressway is collected at five toll plazas, of which Khalapur and Talegaon are the main ones. About 1.5 lakh vehicles pass through the expressway daily.
