Google New Foldable Phone: Google officially entered the foldable market this year with the Google Foldable Phone. Priced at Rs 1.40 lakh, the phone will be available for sale in select markets from next month. Ahead of the official sale of the Pixel Fold smartphone, the company confirmed that it was working on another smartphone with a foldable display, which was later shelved.

Prior to the launch of a notebook-styled Pixel Fold earlier this year, reports said that the tech giant was working on two foldable devices, named Passport and Pipit. According to an earlier report by 9To5 Google, the Pipit was being modeled after the Oppo Find N series, while the Passport was rumored to get a Samsung Z Fold-like design. Later came the ‘Pipit’ notebook-style design, which we saw on the Pixel Fold earlier this month.

Now, in the company’s Made by Google podcast, the company’s top executives have confirmed that Google was working on a second foldable device, which was later cancelled. Talking about the design of Google’s new devices, which include the Google Pixel Fold, Google Pixel 7a, and the Pixel tablet. The company’s top designers Ivy Ross, Isabelle Olsson and Claude Zellweger revealed that the Pixel Fold was cancelled. The officials thought the equipment was ‘not good enough’.

Apart from this, the three Google executives did not say anything about the canceled Pixel foldable phone. This means we’ll never know whether the canceled Pixel foldable phone had a clamshell-like design or something completely different. However, as far as the trend of foldable smartphones is concerned, the launch of Pixel Fold has opened more doors for the company. Simply put, Google may launch a ‘Google Pixel Flip’-like clamshell sometime in the future.
