With the beginning of the financial year 2023-24, many auto companies of the country are going to increase the prices of their vehicles. Buying a Maruti car will become costlier from April 1. The country’s largest carmaker today announced that it will increase the prices of its cars from April due to high cost pressure.

Auto company Maruti Suzuki has attributed the increase in prices to inflation, regulatory recruitments, manufacturing cost. In the financial year 2022-23, Maruti had increased the prices of its vehicles twice. The company had increased prices by 1.3 per cent in April and 1.1 per cent in January. Maruti is still working on the quantum of the price hike, as the hike could vary depending on the model. The company sells some of the most popular cars in the country including Alto, Eeco, WagonR, Swift, Dzire, Baleno, Ertiga, Brezza and Grand Vitara. Customers will have to spend more money to buy these vehicles from April 1.

As of now, there is no official confirmation from Maruti as to how much the price of a vehicle will increase. Maruti Suzuki India said, the company makes maximum efforts to reduce costs and partially offset the increase, but it has become imperative to pass on some of the impact through price hike. The company has planned a price hike in April 2023, which will vary across models.

Actually, the strict criteria of Real Driving Emissions RDE will be applicable on auto companies from the month of April. After this, there will be an increase in the production cost of the companies. In such a situation, many vehicle manufacturers are preparing to increase the prices of their vehicles. Tata Motors will increase the prices of its commercial vehicles by up to 5 percent from April 1. Hero MotoCorp, the country’s largest two-wheeler maker, will increase the prices of select motorcycles and scooters by around 2 per cent from April 1.
