The chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes gave instructions, 9716 medical students of SC category should be given scholarship immediately

National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) Chairman Vijay Sampla has ordered the Director of Medical Education and Research Department, while giving huge relief to the Scheduled Caste students of MBBS and other medical courses of the Medical College of Haryana. It has been given that the pending post matric scholarship of such students should be paid immediately and a report in this regard should be submitted by April 3, 2023. 9716 students of this category in the state have not received this scholarship for three-four years.

The Commission has asked the Department of Medical Education and Research to issue this guideline to all medical colleges as soon as possible that due to delay in post matric scholarship, examination roll number, mark sheet, certificate, degree, internship or examination of any scheduled caste students will not be displayed. No other facilities will be stopped and no hindrance will be created in their studies. Apart from this, action should be taken to distribute scholarship by giving an opportunity to the students who have not been able to apply for post matric scholarship due to closure of scholarship portal or any other reason. An opportunity should also be given to those students who have left education midway due to non-receipt of scholarship.

According to the commission, the Medical Education and Research Department should also ensure that the scholarship portal remains functional throughout the year. It should also be ensured that due to non-disbursement of scholarship, there is no negative impact on the career of any scheduled caste student. In this matter the Department of Medical Education and Research has asked to issue a press release. The commission has been given MBBS in the medical colleges of the state. Complaints were received regarding non-distribution of post matric scholarship to scheduled caste students studying in medical and other medical courses.Considering the seriousness of the matter, Shri Vijay Sampla, Chairman, National Commission for Scheduled Castes, Haryana State Scheduled Caste In connection with the post matric scholarship of medical students, the Director General (Medical Education and Research Department) was called for a hearing along with the report of the case and the scholarship figures of the last 3 years.

During the course of hearing, the Commission found that the Medical Colleges of the State, offering M.B.B.S. The payment/distribution of post matric scholarship to the SC students studying in the course is not being done smoothly. Due to this, the students of this class are facing a lot of inconvenience and trouble. Many students are unable to complete their studies due to non-availability of scholarship. They are also facing inconvenience in getting the degree. The Director of the Medical Education and Research Department assured the commission that all pending scholarship disbursement/payment related matters would be resolved within a period of 6 months and no student would have to face inconvenience/difficulty due to scholarship. Commission Chairman Vijay Sampla has fixed the next hearing on 3 April 2023. In this, the Medical Education Department has been ordered to be present after completing all the proceedings.
