- Google will launch Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL smartphones on October 15.
- Google Pixel 4 smartphones will come with a dual rear camera setup.
- Pixel 4’s camera will come with a frequent faces feature.
Google will launch Pixel 4 - the most leaked smartphone of the year - in about five days. Ahead of the offical launch, which is scheduled to take place on October 15 in New York, more details about Pixel 4's camera have emerged online. As per a new report, Pixel 4's camera app will come with a Frequent Faces feature.
Pixel 4's Frequent Faces feature would identify people that you click photos with frequently and focus on them automatically when you click images with them. According to a report by XDA Developers, Pixel 4's Camera app will save data on the faces of the people that you frequently photograph and automatically focus on the identified faces when you click an image next time.
The report states that all the data associated with the faces identified by the app is stored on the Pixel smartphone and it is acessible only via the Google Camera app, which in turn takes care of the privacy concerns. And if users don't want Google's app to save data on people's faces, they can simply disable it. Disabling the feature will delete all the data associated with the faces that had been saved previously.
This feature would be particularly useful when users are trying to click images that has multiple subjects or in simple words many faces in it as it would allow the app to prioritise the focus on right faces.
The report however cautions that though the code of the image is present in app, it is possible that the Frequent Faces feature is not available at the time of the launch. However, the feature will be available to the Pixel 4 users eventually.
It is worth noting that the Frequent Faces feature is not the only camera feature that will be available on Pixel 4 smartphone when it launches next week. Previously reports indicate that the Pixel 4 camera app will come with a Social Share feature that would allow users to share images on to social media sites directly from the app. Users will be able to select up to three social media apps to share their images.
In addition to that, Pixel 4 will also come with a new dual exposure camera app that would allow users to control shadows and highlights in an image better using a two-point slider option. Pixel 4 is also likely to get an improved Night Sight camera mode.
