Akshay Kumar on birdman look in Rajinikanth's 2.0: It was the hardest in my 30-year career
In 2018, Bollywood star Akshay Kumar made his Tamil debut with director Shankar's 2.0, which is India's expensive movie. In 2.0, the Padman actor was pitted against Superstar Rajinikanth. A year later, Akshay Kumar, in a recent interview, recalled the hard work behind his birdman look in the film.
Akshay Kumar essayed the role of an ornithologist, who turns into a birdman when his life energy and energy of the birds combine to form an aura. The birdman goes on to destroy mobile phones and its towers which emanates harmful radiation.
Akshay Kumar recently met the media in Hyderabad to promote his upcoming film Housefull 4, which also stars Kriti Sanon, Pooja Hegde and Kriti Kharbanda. In an interview to Deccan Chronicle, he recalled the birdman look in 2.0 the toughest in his career spanning 30 years.
He said, "The look in 2.0 with Rajini sir was the hardest look ever in my 30-year-career. It took nearly three and a half hours to put it on and one and a half hours to take it off! We shot nearly three hours continuously with that make-up on."
During the interaction, Akshay Kumar also expressed his interest to star in a Telugu film. "I would love to do a Telugu film, but somebody has to cast me. I don't speak the language, but I can certainly try and learn it. I am ready," he confessed.
2.0 was produced by Lyca Productions on an extravagant budget of Rs 543 crore. However, the film ended up as a box office failure because of its high budget, according to trade reports.
